Safety (and Convenience): ATV/ORV Flags

Depending on where you ride, an ATV/ORV flag may be a required piece of safety equipment. Generally, these are needed on public dunes to help riders spot others earlier when they may be on the other side of a dune and must be mounted before entering the park.

Our kids are not old enough to ride their ATVs or any type of off-roading vehicle because of their ages. But we still make them use their ATV flags when riding around our backyard trails. In theory, it should help prevent crashes because you can see the flags through the trees. In reality, our kids don’t pay attention to the flags. But we do. Those flags are great for us to keep an eye on where they are so we can enjoy being outdoors and not constantly trying to bounce between the two of them (three if the little man is out riding his electric motorcycle – check out that post here).

Nothing fancy but it helps us keep track of where they are at on the trails. The one we have can be found on Amazon for under $30 here.
